I am taking the Spring term off from my studies at MIT and attempting to hike the full Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. I started my journey on March 1st and am hiking for approximately 4 months up to Mt. Katahdin in Maine. The trail is 2,181 miles long.
Here’s where you come in! I am accepting donations on a per-mile basis.
Half of the proceeds will go to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and the other half will benefit the charity/non-profit of the highest giver’s choice. Donors are allowed and encouraged to form groups and donate with other people (while on the paypal page, be sure to note which group you are a part of, if any). YOU CAN DONATE BY CLICKING "CLICK HERE TO DONATE" BELOW.
I am using this blog to update you all on my progress. I don't have internet access often, but hopefully I share a bit of my life with you every week or two until after I finish in June.
I invite all of you to come hike with me along my route— I will update on this blog my whereabouts every time I post.
I will hold the money you donate until June, when I come back from Mt. Katahdin. If you donate over $50, I will automatically have the charities to which we donate mail you receipts (the money you donate is tax deductible). If you donate under $50 but would still like a receipt, please email me and I will do this for you. All contributions will officially be under the 2011 tax year.
I'm super excited to do this!
